That's 2WD?

When was the oil last changed? It may be that the lifters need replacing, given the millage and age, as you know they are hydraulic so 'pump up' with oil.

Additionally, on 2WD piston slap is a known issue from a cold start (4x4 has offset gudgeon pins, which reduces this).
