The CVH is a very heavy breathing engine. As you up the boost, the crankcase pressure tends to increase and ends up blowing the oil cap off or the dipstick out. Not ideal.

An aftermarket breather allows you to safely increase boost without worry of high crankcase pressures.

I personally opted for a spec-r breather as it has a smaller footprint:
