Default 04 Mondeo 2.0 TDCI Ghia X Automatic Stalling and Accelleration Lag

Hi All,

I bought this car on eBay just over a month ago. To be honest, I love it despite it flaws which I will go into now.

The car was advertised on eBay with 59k miles and in good condition. When I went to buy it, I found that the rear view mirror and drivers sun visor on the passenger seat, the door for the glove compartment snapped off at the hinges and MOT history shows that the car went from 140k miles to 59k. The stock radio was also asking for a PIN and was unusable.

Not a good start, I'm sure you'll agree. I was about to walk away from it however the guy offered me £500 off the price I won the auction for, and as I had driven 3 hours to pick it up, I took it.

I fixed the rear view mirror and the sun visor and acquired the tools to remove the radio and got a code for it. I then took it to Halfords for them to give it a once over. £370 later, I had 4 new brake discs and new pads all around and they said that everything else was fine and that it would pass an MOT.

My problem is this; the car has stalled a couple of times when I'm stationary and trying to pull away. When this happens, the oil warning light comes on, but the car will start again straight away. Also there's a lag between when I press the accelerator and the car actually moves which is annoying.

It may be worth noting that I generally drive manual cars, however I had a Saab 9-5 a few years ago and I didn't experience the same problems.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Oh and the glove compartment is still broken because the hinge mounts have been snapped off on the dash. Any easy way to solve that?

Lastly, I get between 34 and 35MPG. Is that right?

Stu
