I used to do this many years ago. Dumped cars or ones with council notices on I used to wait for the 28 days I think it was and on the last day I used to take it before the council got there (just after midnight) and it was legal back then, not sure about nowadays though. I'd apply for the log book and leave it sat there and if the log book comes through before it's been taken away jobs a goodun. Worth risking the £25 application fee for log book
