I drove my mates escort gti on escos rims and it drove shocking which is a shame as it looked the bollocks. Can you not run coilovers so you can fine tune the ride height so it doesn't catch and also fit cambr shims. I know a lot of vag lads run camber to avoid rubbing on wide wheels. Not a fan myself but might be a option
