under the air filter check the brass disc moves freely, with ignition off

then with ignition on push flap very briefly should hear the injectors whine

then remove spark plugs completely and tuck leads towards servo number them first if you know they are in the correct positions lay a rag over the spark plug holes,
but not plugging them, just catching any petrol splashes you might get shortly
then remove fuel relay crank for 10 seconds clearing the cylinders of fuel,
sling the rag out the way , let the vapours die down ,
give it 10 minutes or so leave fuel relay disconnected then plug in spark plugs and check all spark by cranking report back
