Short studs tend to pull on the top of the block. With loads of boost the head lifts and trying to take the top of the block with it. Which then leads to cracks.

If your not running loads of boost they are fine.

Standard bolts will not like 500 bhp and the ends of the head tend to lift when using standard bolts. They work but for how long.

The fact is there is no better way to help prevent premature failure of a block than long studding it. Which obviously has the cost of a total rebuild which most people try to avoid.

If you have a good 200 block then my advise would be with high power is safety first. Last thing you want is to lose the block. If you have a 205 large core block then try your luck just like me... haha.

T4 2.2 bar boost 92mm pistons. Loads of fun until it pops. Done well so far tho.
