If you cannot take the car in under the personal import rules I honestly would not bother, sell it, buy an aircon equipped ST and go the SEVS route.

The only way i can see that i can go on a personal import is if i stay here until the 12 month qualifying period lapses. But having said that im now wondering if they will be picky on letting it in as im planning some big mods for it Brakes, engine etc and not sure if they will just out right say no ? that being said "Nick.W"s m8 imported the BMW which is far from standard so it must be possible ?

I know you have to show them a copy of your logbook and insurance cert to show you have owned and have been able to drive the car for the 12 month period but is there any other docs you have to give with relation to the car ? and do they check with the insurance company to find out or just take the insurance cert as proof enough ?
