strange cutting out problem
Hi
My cosworth has a strange problem. Sometimes it will pull cleanly to the red line but most of the time it dies as you get up towards 5k. Its not like a misfire, its more like the ignition had been shut down for a second or two, sometimes it will pick up again and rev through, sometimes it just keeps cutting out and stumbling.
I have been through every thing I can find on misfires all the sensors, gaps, plugs etc, im even running wasted spark so should have a healthy spark.
Tonight I tried checking all connections to the relays and ecu were good with no loose wires and I tried bridging the fuel pump relay in case that was cutting out but no joy. But I did notice one thing, my boost controller and power meter dim and flicker when the car dies under load, they are wired to the radio plug ignition live. My fuel pump is a bit noisy at idle the buzz keeps going up and down and sounds a bit dodgy.
My question is.. Do you think that a fuel pump on the way out could be pulling too much current under load and causing a lack of power in the ignition live circuit.
Any suggestions appreciated as im sick now and thinking of washing my hands of cosworths altogether.
Thanks
Paul
