Plenty of rangeys at that price but it seems bit and miss if you get a good one.
I'm getting an xc90 next but about 1/2 your lowest budget point, about £8k or so. Still torn between a d5 or a t5, t6 to be avoided at all costs as the gearbox is pish. Apparently d5 does 35+ mpg but very expensive when it fails yet the t5 is super reliable as its a lpt version of the more familiar 5 pot but will obviously be a bit thirsty.
