Great cars I always wanted one when I had passed my driving test as I used to strip them with my step dad as a kid, all of the v6's we had in to strip were all 70k or less with head gasket gone and some of those we picked up for less than £100 at the time! Lots of people strip them for the 2.0l silver top to chuck in smaller hatchbacks as most know, I think this is why scorpios are getting rare too as everyone is using them to chuck the Cosworth v6 in capris sierras etc, generally the mk1 and 2 mondeos are great cars, only real problem with the mk1 was the headlight filters if you didn't have a v6 and the mk2's were faultless except for the diesels which we had problems with all of them smoking on acceleration
