Dropping EFI into an MFI converted mk2 XR2
Hi there. Totally new to this, so forgive me if I make no sense at all!!
A few years ago I bought a MK2 XR2 which has an escort MFI RS turbo engine in it. I had nothing to do with the conversion at all. I only recently got it taxed mot'd and insured.
There seems to be a few problems with the engine, I have a lot of what seems to be blue smoke coming from the baileys oil breather vent pipe, which I gather is better ventilated to the atmosphere than going into the air inlet? Also when I give the car a good boot, not even for a long time, it starts to tick, sounds like from the top end. If I leave it ticking over, this ticking eventually stops.
So... I was thinking of getting a full engine rebuild as the history of the engine is unknown to me, but a full engine rebuild seems to be very expensive. Now I'm being offered an already rebuilt EFI engine, with a high spec. I don't know how hard the job is putting an MFI in a fiesta XR2 and was wondering if anyone knew the implications of now trying to drop an EFI in there?
Hope that all makes sense, it took me ages to type it out, so I hope so!
Any help will be very much appreciated.
