Really, they have fuck all going for them in terms of being a functional car.

An electric car in itself is a great idea...but not as long as they are relying on batteries to power it.
Not all electric cars are shit, there are some very interesting models due for release in the UK shortly, which will be another leap forward.
The Vauxhall Ampera is one of the better vehicles already available, with extended range technology, you dont have to worry about range anxiety.

Performance wise, there is a huge amount of potential from electric / hybrid vehicles. This will be the way forward. Even with the developement of hydrogen / other gas power.

If they are unplugged during charging it will only set the car alarm off anyway. And providing there is a designated box around the vehicle, it will be the fault of the individual not looking where they are going
