lots of them were though, more than weren't, the only thing they didn't do was notch the front chassis legs for the shafts
every dohc sierra i've had that was 90 spec onwards had the wider tunnel, and i've broken 18 or 19 of them in total
i know that's not conclusive proof because you've got 2 cars that didn't
