Default Fuel smell, 40 miles to £20 of fuel & couple of other issues!

Rite here we go:

Car was fine when purchased but was only running 7-8 psi direct, piped boost valve back in & ran approx 1.5 bar (std gauge) but was dropping off boost

Forge actuator ordered & fitted (did ask fir blue spring), fitted direct with 1/2 moon of tension on spring & the result was about 10psi, few turns in & managed 1 bar, so decided to reconnect the boost solenoide & again 1.5 bar but dropping off!

Search found that with boost solenoide connected over 1 bar it keeps cutting boost back to 1 bar do best to go direct??? Correct?

A few more turns on actuator rod & im now approx a whole hole of tension on spring & its approx 16psi

Is this amount of tension ok as im going to have to wind it further in to achive 1.5 bar direct? Or do u thing they have sent me the wrong spring fitted in actuator?

Also seem to have a missfire on boost when cold & car feels like its holding back then going etc (surging when driven held in gear booting it from 2-6k ish)

Ontop of sll this ive noticed a strong fuel smell if revved hard on/off on idle but defo no leaks?

Idears/info as im a cosworth/rs turbo man so dont know a great deal about these. Just wanna get it mistly rite before a rolling road session
