I thought I'd show you's all some of the little jobs that I've been doing to my rs turbo over the winter months.
I've got a thread on Northern fords which is my local club with covers the north of Scotland.
I purchased the car in August 2013 it's my first ford but I've always wanted one since I was old enough to know what one was. As far as im aware the car was fully restored around 2008 and has done very few miles since, only around 1500 miles it's had full engine re-build with new pistons 0.5 over bore, hybrid turbo, turbo systems chip, airtec alloy rad, intercooler and turbo cooler. Avo suspension, fully poly bushed, rear disc conversion.
Hope you all enjoy the pics.
I've copied most of it over from northern fords
when I had the "turbo" out a run I noticed smoke coming out my bonnet vents when I stopped at a junction. I immediately thought s*#t
I pulled over straight away opened the bonnet and was greeted with a big waft of smoke which smelt of burning oil. I had a look around the engine bay but nothing was obvious
I then looked under the car a there it was! Oil dripping off the bottom of the starter motor and on to my nicely heat wrapped exhaust which was acting like a sponge nicely and soaking up the oil and burning it off. It was the turbo oil return pipe!
I ordered a new samco one and fitted it today.
Removed oil hose and the cause of the leak was obvious straight away hose was a coolant pipe which was too big in diameter. The jubilee clip on the block side was also fitted of the end of the hose and had split it.
Here you can see the difference between the oil hose and new hose and wen fitted, the oil hose was almost kinked to get the correct angle you can see on the new hose.
New hose fitted with new clips, looks a lot better and matches the rest of my hoses now
I had also ordered a heat shield from Auto Specialists, it's from their pro-series range in satin black which is more subtle than the usual chrome finish.
For some reason my oil feed to my turbo is different to the standard fitting which means the heat shield can't be fitted where it should be unless I cut a check out the shield which I don't fancy doing. But the position that it's bolted in will keep rain water from going onto my alternator which is fine by me.
I also have a wee sticker that I friend got made for me. He's from Skye. But some of you may remember these from a while back where available at the esso garage.
(There's a tiger in my tank)
I've got some other work il be doing over the winter months so il jus keep updating this thread for them.
Well got the rs on axle stands so the wheels can be refurbed, il also be doing other jobs I've kind of got a wee list and parts that I've collected. Il also be cleaning underneath and painting a few bits and bobs calipers, hubs etc.
On stands wheels off
These should keep me going
Bumper is getting painted so it's off
My new heat shield is a cracking place for the trickle charger
Update time
Been picking away at the Rs over last couple nights
New alternator
The old one was pretty knackered
Next up was my zinc anti-roll bar clamps, the bolts are stitched and the top of the plate they are bolted too to stop the turning when fitting the clamps. But one of the bolts had broke the welds in the past and a new bolt had been fitted but not stitched, and you cant get a spanner on the top of the bolt so it's no use.
So I un bolted the whole mounting plate and got it off that way. I decided the best option was to fit a new bolt and stitch it in place, which meant I could get my favourite tool in the garage on the go 8-)
A wee stitch either side and she's going nowhere
Removed heat wrap from exhaust
Then removed rocker cover to do gasket. But once I got it off I've decided that it could do with a paint o going to do hat over the weekend.

She's nice and clean in here
I've also been trying out my new dodo juice buff daddy here's some pics
Gave rear arches a clean a seal too
Reflection shot
Some more work done over weekend when I had spare time.
Couple more jobs done on the Turbo, progress has been slow just now because of Xmas and new year and working overtime inbetween all that so yous will need to bare with me if it's just one or two pictures each time.
One of the caliper carriers the extra bracket you see is used so it allows you to run 2wd Sierra cosworth front discs
Refurbed, wire wheel, red oxide, grey undercoat then a lick of black
Back together, hope yas like the colour scheme
Heres a pic of the set up bolted up just give an idea of how the brackets work
This was doing my head in,

New grommet and clip

Fitted
And last of all a stainless steel mikolar band clamp for back box, much nicer to see than the normal clamps,
Next on the list Is,
Alloys are away on the 7th to get refurbed at highland powder coaters,
Header tank and breather tank are going with the wheels to get powder coated satin black,
Full service,
Get the belt and pump done,
And a really good clean. CheeRs
Update time
Made a dump valve blanking plug from aluminium,
Posty has been good to me

a mint set of spotters, genuine unused ford brackets, a ford battery cover and some aluminium pressed number plates
My bumper is ready to pick up from painters on Friday so I can get all that fitted up.
My spal radiator fan was on the outside of my intercooler which I thought to myself can't be very efficient for cooling my radiator and also block clean air going through the intercooler, so I moved it. But now that I've moved it I'm not too sure if I like it.

I might move it back yet! What's you opinions on the rad fans being on the intercooler? It's the way airtec tell you to do it, it's the fan comes with the intercooler kit.

Few jobs done, wheels done, bumper painted and on, spotters, engine bay decals and headlight lenses.
Sorry for posting it all at once guys!
There will be plenty pics for you's all to scroll through
