Hi am pretty new to these forums but here goes... Ive just bought a 2001 Zetec S phase 2.

I brought it back from the garage and and in total did around 100 miles that day and found once i had stopped the idle increased to around 1800 rpm this is in gear with the clutch in, once i had pulled off again the revs dropped and the problem didn't reoccur the next time i stopped... but then the next day the same problem happened again after doing about 40 miles but this time i left it for about 10 seconds and it dropped down to around 900-1100 rpm. Obviously I've only just got the car and have had a few of lead foot moments while out. I just wanted to know is this a major issue or is it normal for the car to over rev for a few seconds after a good drive?
