When Ford made the new batch of 3dr shells in 1989 the motorsport versions had thinner panels, every bracket you can think of missing, and a few hidden adjustments here and there.

Ian at Oakfields has photographed and catalogued all the differences.

Problem was the RS500s days were numbered by then as they were winning everything in sight and very few of these newer shells were used in racing before the car was outlawed, most of the 500 touring cars were built using the heavier original 1986 motorsport shells.
