It can of course be done. But for the time, effort and money saved now days there is no need when they are on offer for such reasonable prices.

Also doing it by hand will take ages to match each port the same. Even done by machine all my plates are finished and checked by hand.

I took this into account but as I had a ported head I wanted it to match perfect, I must say it took a while, and to be fair I phoned Cylinder head developments where I bought the head and he said he would port it if I paid the postage,
Also couldn't find a plate at the time,
I will try dig out a picture of the one I made
