The flashing glow plug light can be caused by several dozens of problems.
That's not one common problem as you call it. And that goes for every make, not just Ford.
Be happy there's a warning light nowadays and that you are able to read fault codes to help you (well, the trained professionals) to find the problem. Back in the old days a car would have a problem which the driver didn't even know because there was no (flashing) warning light. Never mind the problems (or considerable more time) a mechanic had, because he didn't have a fault code to point him in the right direction.
