Question 2003 Ford Ka

New to the forum but looking help already.

I enjoy working at cars. My wife has a 2003 Ford Ka Lux with around 15,000 miles all done by her.

The ignition light is on, the lights are dimming, the car is driving with a slight hesitation. I have checked the battery and it is showing it being charged at 13.5 - 14.5 volts. I suspect the alternator perhaps the rectifier and want to take the alternator of to get it 'repaired' or replaced. Is the removal of the alternator difficult? I have seen notes to suggest I need to remove inner wing, front headlight etc. Is this really what I need to do?

Thanks for any assistance.

Sam
