exactly right

there are extra wires and stuff to do different things

BUT

the 2wd system is better overall, although how it would work to prevent the wheels locking up is a bit vague

the 4wd system effectively "locks" all 4 wheels together when you are slowing down whereas the 2wd set up has effectively 3 different circuits of pulses regulating 2 different circuits of fluid

you should be ok, as it's a bit of a faf to change everything over, it's it's now working then leave it alone would be my vote
