What are the 1.8 tdci's like then? Or can anyone suggest anything else similar to look for? Went and had a look at a mazda 3 today, thing was awful. Just dunno what else to look at!

Need something that is happy on the motorway, Focus sized, about 2006 onwards, economical, reliable and safe for the little one. Got about £3.5k to spend, £4k tops!
