Well, after the mucking around last weekend, I decided to spend some time on it this weekend so armed with my new valve spring compressor I set about changing them all over.
Considering I was told that they had not long been replaced they all looked very dis-coloured. Anyway, changed them over, went out for a drive and it was still exactly the same.
Fuck!
At that point I got annoyed and went home. After some advice on here and elsewhere it now seems that maybe the turbo is the culprit so back down the unit today to have a look at that.
Some oil leaking onto the actuator
Started to strip all the associated components off
Seems like oil is definitely getting past the turbo and into the exhaust judging by this little mess
Also traces of oil in the boost hoses
Check out this great bit of wiring coming off the cps
I had also noticed a knocking noise coming from the front, mainly the nearside so once I had finished taking the turbo off I decided to whip the wheels off and have a gander
Spring looks past its best and not only that, it looks far too small. Pretty sure it is doing nothing in fact. Also appears to have new drop links and lower arms but the ns droplink isn't fitted great as they bolt is loose. Some people should not pick up spanners
So as of today I have some new drop links on order, i'm looking into changing the suspension although i'm unsure what to do as the rear has coilover's so these can just be wound up. Need to have a think on that front
Also had a look underneath and i'm pleasantly surprised at how clean it is, seem's like the rustiest thing under there is the brake pipes.
Even had a look up into the sill behind the skirt and it looks fine so that's a bonus
