It's all the same mate. The exhaust valves are sodium filled though on a focus RS. I'm sure some people on here will have more info but in essence a focus RS mk1 is a turbo charged blacktop engine. Oh and bigger gudgeon pins on the rods and pistons.
Apriciate you quick reply mate, I got a little confused after reading another post by someone on another forum about the focus engine having 3 different sizes somewhere, may not apply to what I'm looking to do but this was the post, see below,
This seems to apply to the con rod connecting to the pistons but seeing as the other end of the conrod is a different size to the Zetecsboy will they go onto the Zetec crank shaft with no problem? I'm clueless haha.
Question-
Anyone got the sizes for rods in the silvertop zetec, black top and the Focus RS?
Or can Focus RS pistons fit on Standard blacktop rods?
Answer-
Silvertop - 136.14mm - 20.638mm pin
Blacktop - 140.84mm - 19.000mm pin
FRS - 137.00mm - 22.000mm pin
US (inc st170) - 139.19 - 20mm pin
Generally compression height of piston matches to the rod length so as long as you use the set it works in any of the various blocks.
