All I can say mate, is that we were on the M25 Dartford Side two year ago and all the Beamers and Mercs were stuck in less than 1 foot of snow, but my Mk3 had no issues (with the snow at least). Is your 2007 a mk4 1.8, 2.0 or 2.2? If you had all of that trouble, it doesn't sound to me as if they've ironed all of the issues out that they had on the mk3.
