Remap for Mk4 with a 2.0 TDCi (140)?
I've recently brought a Mk4 Mondeo Titanium X with the 2.0 TDCi engine (140bhp) and I'm looking for a remap to improve the fuel economy. I'm aware if I boot it, I get the power increase, but not the fuel economy. I drive like a granddad most of the time, only very occasionally I put my foot down and enjoy the power. I'm worried how the new map will affect the engine - I read somewhere that in general, most engines are usually mapped at the factory well below their limits, but apparently some engines are already close to their limits and the remap will take them beyond the limit and decrease reliability - is this true for this engine? Fuel savings does not offset repair costs!
If remap is a good idea, what should I go for? Seems there's 3 kinds - the one where someone buys a franchise, given a laptop and sent to my car and upload a generic map. Second kind is something like the Bluefin. And the final kind is a rolling road map. What's the minimum should I go for? Is the Bluefin any good?
