when i did mine i had to go to the dvla offices with all the relevant paperwork as you need to change the log book as well as show insurance and mot to be able to tax the car in the first place

if the post office can do it now then that's great, but be prepared to go to the dvla office worst case scenario

they won't be op;en to morrow and be prepared for a long wait
