Usually the ecu has to be told that a brand new DPF has been fitted.
This is because the ecu calculates the amount of ashes and soot and has to restart from zero.
DPF's are expensive. It could be just a sensor problem or there's a problem which causes the DPF to be full of soot.
I would get it diagnosed properly before spending a lot of money.
