There should be fitting instructions with your cam how many degrees after top dead center it should have full lift. Follow these instructions for timing and then stay off it unless you can see if it's getting better or worse. These littel adjustments are difficult to feel and it might cause you too fook it up

Timing you can set after setting timing right. Go to where you start to det and then a few degrees back. If you want to get it maxed out take it for a tune, because in the all above nothing is said about AFR. You might be running lean and breaking your engine
