oops, i didnt see any replies on here again. thanks guys.
Small update
I havent really had the chance to do much on it lately due to work and having a couple of cars in the workshop to be wrapped which means no cutting grinding or welding.
The biggest issue at the moment is the pedal box being in the way of the tubs. Im going to have to modify the accelerator pedal arm and the clutch master cylinder mounting point and linkage. The brake servo will definately be too large to get any kind of steering lock with 18's or 20's but i will find a smaller servo as, when and if it becomes neccassary. Im still undecided on the wheels but it seems like the general opinion is to keep the 2 spokes.
Now, im no pro welder infact this is the first time i have actually used a mig welder in anger for anything larger than blobbing a few exhaust tubes together. But it appears my SIP is on its last legs!
I got my local fabricator to come and have a look at it and his opinion was..... scrap it!

.
I had a go on a Murex mig yesterday and i can clearly see and feel the difference so it looks like i'l be smashing the credit card again

.
In the meantime i can still use the SIP for spotting and positioning.
in this last pic you can see how much im going to have to drop the engine to get the bonnet to fit back on, i have just bought a holly carb and im waiting for the offy inlet to arrive to see how much lower it will sit but i think it will still require a good inch drop.
