New here but hopefully someone will be kind enoguh to help out.

Been reading all over the place and not getting much help or getting contradiction on the next last thing I read regarding changing this over.

I have a w reg 1.8 zetec petrol and the pump is iffy eg sometimes no priming sound then it wont start ( last time 200 miles away from home )

I've carefully cut an access panel out and can see the pump fine and have a new one and new o ring to seal it.

Question is how exactly do you get the fuel pipes out? I can find any pics anywhere. Some suggest removing the entire red lock by pressing down the tabs ( I think this is incorrect? ) others say push the red locking part forward towards pump and then pull the pipe out whilst leaving the red part in place. ( Im guessing this IS correct? ) Whats on the web shows only a single fuel pipe at the top so gueesing US pumps are different.

Secondly. I read pulling fuse 12 out then starting car to depressurize, others say start the car first then pull it out? Whats the preferred method?

Sorry its a long ( first ) post but I want ot replace the pump tomorrow night.
