fifth thing is the the heated seat fuse, this isn't a heated seat fuse as the MK4 escort never had heated seats. This fuse is for fuel delivery on cold start up. If blown the engine will fire up and die, thats unless you keep a high enough RPM (2000 for example) until the engine has warmed up.

Its unlikely to be that, but worth a check seeing as it only takes 30 seconds.
