In the case of the Weber there are two different types of TPS, the PF01 has a switch built, which is open circuit when the throttle is closed, thus the ECU knows to activate it's idle and overrun strategies, also the polarity is an inverted of that of a L8/P8 on the L1/L6.
Op, basically you can check the TPS calibration by measuring the voltage at the ECU respective pins, at closed throttle it should circa 0.5V rising in proportion the further the throttle is opened, @ WOT you should have near 5V.
