Hi guys,

When I start the car I can hear the fuel pump being primed for ignition then once started a humming/whining noise comes from the fuel tank.

I guess this is the fuel pump, is it normal for it to be quite noisy, I don't remember hearing it as much until a few months ago when I ran the car quite low on fuel (red light). Have I filled the pump full of crap and gunk?

The noise is loud from inside and outside the car, even though the car runs absolutely fine I'm not sure if this is something that should concern me (very paranoid when I hear irregular noises).

What can I check to see if the pump needs replacing? Also could there be any other problems from that area? What solutions are there?
