Hi,

I have an intermittent starting issue with my loved Mondeo Mk3 TDDI Ghia.

The issue is the starter motor makes a screeching noise and the engine doesn't turn over. The car can run fine for days, driving to work or a short trip across town, then out of the blue it makes the that screeching noise. Usually after several tries the cars starts, but the issue got worse taking more attempts to start. I took it to the garage and had the starter motor replaced but this issue still occurs.

In the last 3 weeks its happened 6 times since the starter motor being replaced. There are no fault codes, the battery seems okay, but is not new. Speaking with the garage they have checked the teeth on the flywheel and they are good. They suggest the next things to try is replacing the battery or the power cable from the battery to the starter motor.

I've been reading various forum posts trying the get an understanding but nobody appears to have the same problem as I do. They have similar but they were resolved with the starter motor being replaced.

Can anybody help?
