Ive had this happen, but we fabricated a new torque link bracket using other bolts on the gearbox.

The first time it happened it could have weakened the webbing on the gearbox. But again, we found excessive wear on the drivers engine mount. A call to the local ford parts dept indicated this is quite a common issue with the mk1 focus.

we didn't replace the gearbox, it should still be feasible to use other mounting points for the torque link.
