I more or less had this same argument with a friends doughter; she said you do not have to gear down anymore at junctions to pass test. She told me her instructor told her it is to save fuel and that the breaks on the cars these days are so good that you do not need to change down for safty. I suppose in the old days the syngro on the gear boxes was not like it is these day.
but in the end I myself try to stop in high gear just to save fuel alone. Now know I am not doing anything wrong??? Cheers Pete
