You cant tow a thing over 750 kg if it doesnt have brakes that are applied when the tow car is braking. Thats a fact. Also Some people try and say seeing as the towing frame is connected to the car the car becomes a trailer but thats not allowed. Towing frames are to be used to recover the broken down vehicle to the nearest place of safety. Said broken down vehicle must be road legal. So taxed mot'd and insured. I found this out personally from a vosa checkpoint. I tried every excuse i could But was informed of the correct legislation by them
