well at last a nice little update , as promised some pics of the remote front diff set up which i thought would be a nightmare to sort actually tunrned out not to be to bad.
with me using the wrc crossmember i was a bit unsure whether to make it bolt on or weld it direct to the frame , i decided to weld it direct to the frame as i couldnt be arsed with making extra bracket etc.
so the first job on the list was to cut the escort cosworth 4x4 sump up as i was going to get a custom machined piece of alloy to mount the cross shaft etc then when looking at the sump decided to simple cut away all the parts i didnt need and see what i was left with .
one cossie sump all cut up
this is what i was left with , with a bit of grinding to tidy things up i think it looks pretty good
fitted to the front diff
you get the idea where the sump will sit , i could go another inch lower by cutting the oil tunnel off on the sump if needed.
i spent alot of time measureing and remeasureing to make sure everything was central etc and equal on both sides
once i was happy everything was ok i started to make a tubular frame for the front diff to sit in using all 3 mounting points. heres a few pics
strenghting plates added to beef things up
front cradle all mounted up with cosworth 4x4 front diff , cross shaft , drive shafts . the diff is very easy to remove along with the cross shaft
added extra welding again to add strenght and you can see the cross shaft bracket now mounted ready for the cross shaft section to have a alloy bracket welded on.
you can now see the bracket , this was then drilled and fitted with x2 m8 rivnuts
then finally primed to stop the rust but its going for blasting and powder coating when ive finished messing around with it.
just the alloy bracket to get welded up then its all done
thanks for looking
cheers paul
