With the gauge is sounds like a sender problem, maybe float jammed etc, does it have fuel in it?

lol never thought about putting fuel in no i had just filled it, im going to lower tank this week and check float.
On my new harness its all labelled bat. pos/ bat.neg at one end then at rear its pos/neg which is obviously pump then theres one wire which says black/red, so do i just cut original wire and join to this? the loom obviously has a fuse and a relay so is my original relay redundant once new loom is fitted? wiring is not my thing
