4x4 cossie/2wd brake questions
Ok all, been swapping the engine out on my saph cos and into the mint shell I bought off slider from here and it's generally gone well, few hiccups but generally ok.
My problems now centre around the front brakes and hubs.
Now the car came with a 2wd front beam in mint condition but obv not much use to me and also brand spanking new front 4 pot brake calipers which I'm to assume are also 2wd items.
The prop is also 2wd but it seems like I just unbolt the 4x4 prop and I'm back in business.
The brakes are where my problems lie.
Obviously I'd love to use the new calipers but there seem to be issues, the 4wd hub carriers use smaller bolts than the 2wd ones,I'm assuming just drill for clearance on the m10/12 but also the brake hose seems to hit the driveshaft, the 4x4 seems to use an angled fitting?
Obviously the 2wd hubs are different,I found this when trying to fit a 4x4 strut into a 2wd knuckle!!!
The car has stood for so long the hubs have actually rusted into the discs. I think I'm best to swap them out for good second hand units but is there anything I can do to separate the old hubs out of the discs?
I've tried brute force, releasing oil, heat etc but I think their dead in the water.
Any suggestions welcome.
