The only other way I've heard of other people doing it is by dropping the subframe on the nearside and just resting the box on it while the clutch is changed but I've never done it that way myself so I couldn't tell you how difficult or easy it is to do it that way. I personally think it's more hassle than it's worth doing it that way.

They're not actually that difficult to do really, I used to do them pretty quickly.

Just a tip though, before you drop the subframe, insert a really thin screwdriver in the holes through the radiator top locating pins that go through the slam panel to stop it falling down, I've seen a few folk not do that!!
