So I've had this bottom end sat in my shed for a few months, so today I decided to put it on the engine stand a crack it open.

After taking of the sump and pulling the crank, pistons and rods out I noticed that all the mains and big end shells are brand spanking new, the core plugs are new and drilled and tapped. I grabbed the vernier calliper out of the tool box and started to measure all the components.

Crank main - 56.97mm
Crank big end - 51.98mm

Pistons - 90.77mm

The last measurement I took was from deck to journal and was 207.73mm is that not ment to be 205mm? Could be measuring in the wrong place, I measured from the pulley end of the block I.e no 1.

According to my cossie technical data manual the pistons are from a 3333 stamp block (grade 3) mine is a grade 2 and stamped 2222.

Now I have no way of measuring the bores to find out the diameter of the bores but a can tell you they look like they have just left the machine shop. I'm thinking now that I want to drop this bottom end into the p100 but what worries me is that the bores may be to big for the pistons making the piston clearance to large.

I'm I best of dropping the block, crack and flywheel down to my local machine shop and have them check it all over and balance it?
