The TPS could affect idle BUT only with the information it is giving which then in controls the ISCV. The fact this is disconnected means there is an air leak or as I say the idle valve is open.
Yes WD40 can be used to determine the source of this, by liberally spraying around manifold etc with engine running if you then hear a change in idle, this is where the leak is.
