Hi, a 1.8 is a truely remarkable engine getting the MPG you are asking for as well as the performance to match. it isnt that bad of any engine. I currently have a 1.6 in my estate but when that goes (and it soon will i think) ill look for either a 1.8 or a 2.0 depending what I can get a cheapish engine for
