I think the rocker cover may be "non- metal" so cannot be polished - you could spray it with metallic silver paint though

As far as i am aware bonnet lifters are not available for 2008 Mondeos, lifters from another car (eg Sierra Cosworth?) may be modified or they could be made from scratch/ fabricated

Some billet aluminium/ dural cut to size and drilled and longer bolts/ studs would not be prohibitively expensive to do/ get done
