Not the battery, thats the 'CMOS' memory

Almost certainly you have a faulty monitor, (assuming the TV was defiently set to output via VGA?) You might want to check that the input has not got changed to another input, which is unlikely as when it powers up it searches for an active input, does your monitor have another interface you could use to see if that works?
