The 'black box with a wire' a supressor, the regulator is the oval shaped object.

No they are different, assuming you have a Cosworth Escort, these are 90A units, the same as a Saph, 3DR is 70A, the pulley is different due to the "serpentine belt" arrangement.

3DR must have had two wires (assuming thats OE), Saph and other setups I know have a heavy duty single cable!
