Default Escort Van Project

I'm planning to buy a Mk6 Escort Van, probably around 02 or thereabouts. Going for a Non-Turbo 55D, they seem to be the most common around, so I'll be able to pick one up fairly cheap.

I'm planning on turning into a sleeper car, something what will suprise the Corsa kids and have a bit more power. I still want to keep it looking totally stock, so keeping the rusty steel wheels and a the white paintwork with a bit of surface rust around the wheel arches and back door.

So it'll need a turbo, the pressure increasing and the fuel pump turning up. Also I was planning on fitting a straight pipe, removing the catalytic converter (if it's got one) and blanking off the EGR. Also I was thinking of fitting a different gearbox with a lower final drive.

Do I recall correctly that the Mondeo 1.8 TD (1996-2000) uses the same engine block as the Escort van, so would the Turbo and Intercooler be a straight fit over to the van engine? Also would a Mondeo gearbox from a more powerful Mondeo variant fit into the van without much work?

Had this idea for a long time, and I'd really like to do it, I can't imagine it'd cost too much, if everything goes to plan.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
